PYROMETER BP17
Infrared thermometer for non-contact surface temperature measurement
Red if the limit value is exceeded
The reference value is 30 °C and the sensitivity level is 5 °C. Therefore, a measured temperature is within the tolerance range when it is between 25 °C and 35 °C. However, if the surface temperature of the measured material is above the maximum value of 35 °C, the display is lit red and you'll hear an acoustic signal at short intervals.
With the BP17 you can continuously keep an eye on whether the actual values comply with the temperature range you have specified without having to observe the exact values all the time.
Precise measuring results at the touch of a button
Whether we're talking about the commercial sector or the hobby sector − monitoring the surface temperature of electric devices, motors, cooling systems or walls is an important issue with regard to the subject of energy efficiency. Continuous temperature measurement can often already avoid greater damage and costly remediation work beforehand. As you do not have to touch the surfaces which might be too hot or cold, you always play it safe when carrying out measurements with infrared radiation.
With the pyrometer BP17, a reliable and precise surface thermometer is provided to you. Its infrared sensor supplies exact measuring results to you within a large temperature range from -50 °C to +380 °C. You can define a reference temperature beforehand, and possible deviations can be indicated by means of both visual and acoustical alarm signals. When setting the tolerance range, you can choose between 1 °C, 3 °C and 5 °C. In order to be really sure that you're actually recording the current temperature of the measured material when you carry out a non-contact surface measurement from the distance, and not a value from the environment, the pyrometer BP17 is equipped with a target laser which indicates the centre of the measured surface (optical resolution 10:1). In doing this, please note that the measured surface, i.e. the area in which the temperature values are recorded, is increased with an increasing distance.
The large, backlit display guarantees an excellent view of the measured values, even with poor light conditions, and the modern, ergonomic gun-style design allows for comfortable and fatigue-free handling. Convenient: The battery-powered measuring device switches off automatically when it is not used and thus reduces its already low power consumption. With the handy belt pouch, you can wear the pyrometer conveniently on your body and always have it at hand.
A variety of applications
A pyrometer can be used for checking the heat generated whilst the electrical devices are running permanently. Since the measurement result is at hand in a matter of seconds, temperature measurements can also easily be performed on moving objects. Where the subject of energy saving is concerned, you are furthermore provided with valuable information by checking windows, exterior walls and ceilings with regard to their thermal insulation properties. Further applications are for instance the monitoring of the motor and tire temperature of vehicles or motorcycles, the functional test of underfloor heating systems, or simply the temperature measurement of baby's feeding bottle or of the wine bottle. And in combination with a hygrometer for measuring the air humidity, you can quickly determine whether and where there are cold corners in your home, which pose an increased risk of a temperature drop below the dew point and therefore of mould formation by condensation water.
Visual and acoustic signals
If you want to check specific measurement values at regular intervals, you can preselect a reference temperature for this purpose and set tolerance thresholds from 1 °C, 3 °C or 5 °C. If the temperature value measured is outside the limit values, this is shown in the display with different colours and additionally is indicated acoustically by means of a signal tone.
Green if the tolerance value is maintained
You have specified a reference value of 25 °C and set a threshold value of 1 °C. If the surface temperature measured is between 24 °C and 26 °C − i.e. within the tolerance range, the display lights up green.
Blue if the threshold value is not reached
The reference value preselected is 20 °C and the tolerance limit selected is +/- 3 °C. If the temperature measured were between 17 °C and 23 °C, therefore everything would be okay. However, if the measured value is below 17 °C, the display is lit blue and in addition you'll hear a signal at long intervals.
With the BP17 you can continuously keep an eye on whether the actual values comply with the temperature range you have specified without having to observe the exact values all the time.
